Setting a Service to Automatically Restart Upon Failure

Tags: WHM

You don't have to adjust or add settings because cPanel and WHM already automatically restart a service when it fails.  The chkservd constantly monitors all the services to make sure they are working properly.   Every 5 minutes, the chkservd decides which services are online and which need restarting. Services monitored include MySQL, Apache, BIND, Interchange, Webmail, Exim, etc.

To see results from the chkservd look through:

  • The /var/log/chkservd.log  log file contains the results from each check that it performs.
  • WHM's Server Information interface (WHM >> Home  >> Server Status >> Server Information) displays the results from each check.
  • You can configure the system to email you the results from each check.
